Introduction to the MBRU Colleges and Institute of Learning

The College of Medicine offers a student-centric innovative curriculum that fosters critical thinking as well as a culture of scientific inquiry. The College’s programs include Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (MSBS), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Sciences, all accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education. The MBBS is a six-year undergraduate program which offers something truly unique to our students through early clinical exposure from Year 1, research that takes place on the MBRU campus, and affiliations with local and international healthcare institutions. The MSBS ensures that students develop the theoretical and practical skills required in biomedical sciences, with a focus on research, genomics, and cellular biology, whilst the PhD in Biomedical Sciences focuses on the broader themes of medical and biomedical sciences that capitalize on the areas of strength within MBRU.

The Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine aims to provide a nurturing environment for current and future leaders in dentistry through a contemporary and evolving curriculum centered in evidence-based patient care, critical thinking, and life-long learning. The College is home to five full-time postgraduate dental programs (Endodontics, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Periodontics), all of which are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education, leading to eligibility for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) specialty membership examinations. Upon graduation, all of our postgraduate dental students are recognized as specialists in the UAE. Our students benefit from a unique curriculum and practice through the Dubai Dental Hospital, our academic affiliate which is instituted to provide the highest standards of dental care for the community, and are also supported by world-leading learning resources such as the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Center and the fully resourced Al Maktoum Medical Library.

The College of Nursing and Midwifery aims to support and improve nursing practice in the UAE and the region via purposely designed Master’s programs in Cardiovascular and Pediatric Nursing which are delivered alongside an integrated and aligned program of research and scholarly activities that are in keeping with the ethos of the University to be nationally responsive and globally connected, serving individuals and communities. The one-year full time (two-year part time) programs are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education and our postgraduate students learn from internationally recognized experts in healthcare education and research. A key goal of the Master’s programs is to ensure that students, as potential specialist nurse practitioners, are enabled to deliver care and provide clinical skills across specialist areas of nursing and in agreed clinical settings.

At the heart of Dubai’s first integrated academic health system lies a dedication to continuous learning and improvement and the Institute of Learning stands at the forefront of this mission, embodying a transdisciplinary approach that intertwines discovery, education, and service to foster an environment where health systems evolve through learning at every level.
