Helen is a Systems Analyst/Programmer with responsibility for a range of services including Authentication, Email and Office 365 provision. She consistently delivers excellence in this demanding role, going the extra mile to ensure an enriched IT experience for staff and students and making a positive difference to all at the University.

Making an Impact Award

WINNER – Dr Neil Galway

School of Natural and Built Environment

 

Neil is Director of Postgraduate Studies in Planning and during the year worked with stakeholders to create The Department for Communities/Queen's University Belfast Placemaking Academy. This collaborative teaching endeavour incorporates reflective practitioner-led workshops, peer learning and field trips – providing professional development for practitioners while equipping students with an evidence-based collaborative educational experience.

WINNER – Kevin Campbell

School of Nursing and Midwifery

 

As the School of Nursing and Midwifery’s Technical Manager and the Technical Lead for Simulation, Kevin has been instrumental in the delivery of the new InterSim, a unique and innovative educational centre. His visionary technological setup has helped realise a state of the art simulation centre that provides world class learning experiences for the next generation of healthcare professionals.

This dedicated team makes a significant impact on the University through the provision of childcare support. Described as the definition of teamwork, they worked tirelessly during the year to deliver this vital service, making a real difference to the lives of staff and students, as well as the children in their care.

Leading by Example Award

WINNER – Dr Véronique Altglas

School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work

 

Véronique is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology and was nominated for her leadership in promoting equality and diversity at Queen's. Over the past year, she has been central in supporting the further development of the Irish-language community on campus, including working with the Student Plus team to establish a residential language scheme.

WINNER – Maria Carrick

Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

 

Maria is the PA to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for AHSS, having started her career at Queen's in the Faculty of Humanities Office. For over 25 years, she has made a significant contribution to the Faculty and the University. With her infectious energy, positivity and professionalism, Maria is a role model with who exemplifies the University's Core Values.
