Technician Showcase | 23 May 2024

On Thursday 23rd May, over 200 people, including Queen's technicians, professional support and academic staff, attended the Queen's Technician Showcase 2024.

We were delighted to host speakers from UK-ITSS, TALENT, University of Nottingham and other UK & Irish Universities. The event offered a tremendous opportunity to share best practice and celebrate Queen's success as a Technician Commitment Signatory.

The day started in the Ashby Building, Sir Bernard Crossland Lecture Theatre, hosted by Professor Alan Stitt, Technician Commitment Institutional Lead & Dean of Innovation and Impact, (MHLS) and Gillian Riddell, Technician Commitment Manager and Technical Lead, Professor Sir Ian Greer, President and Vice Chancellor of Queen's University Belfast opened the event, with a warm welcome to all attendees. Updates followed from distinguished guests, Mel Leitch, Associate Lead, UK-ITSS and Dr Hannah Noke, Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, University of Nottingham.

The main showcase took place in the School of Biological Sciences, Chlorine Gardens. The building was buzzing with activity focused on the poster gallery, interactive demonstrations by Queen’s technicians and exhibitor stands.

During the afternoon there were two workshops for all to attend; 'The Role of Technicians in Health & Safety' - Catrin Harris, TALENT and 'Sustainability at Queen's' - Naomi Martin, Queen's University Belfast.
